Taking advice

I'm finding that one of the difficulties in trying to become established as a writer is deciding when to act on the the advice of others. I changed the opening chapter of my novel, because I was told it had to be fast paced and attention grabbing. I regret this now and hold the opinion that I should have stuck to my original opening chapter, which is more representative of the book as a whole. The current Chapter 1 was always meant to be Chapter 2. I'm going to reorganise the sequence and see if this works better, before sending it away to any more agents.
